Unfortunately, laser eye surgery isn't free considering the technology behind it. But it is a very effective way in order to restore your fading or already deteroriated eyesight. While laser eye surgery isn't available to everybody most people can look to spend anywhere from $1600 to $2400 for having the surgery performed.

On the lower end of the cost scale, the lasers and blades used to perform the surgery are not guided by wavefront analysis. The wavefront analysis adds a bit of complexity to the operation thus increasing the overall price.

Most people are familiar with Lasik as the standard name when it comes to correcting your vision. They have branded themselves as the leader and they deserve it as they have pioneered many advancements over the years.

What many people may not know with Lasik is that there are several different actual procedures when it comes to the surgery.

Lasik eye correction can fix problems such as nearsightedness, astigmatism and farsightedness. During the surgery, a thin flap of the cornea is cut, the surgeon then removes corneal tissue causing the problem and gently places the flap back over the eye.

While it may seem like a big deal having a blade or laser cutting into your eye, Lasik eye surgery is an outpatient procedure meaning you go in, spend about 1 hour altogether and head back home. Most patients spend the bulk of their time waiting or preparing compared to the actual amount of time the procedure takes itself.

Before you actually go in and have the surgery done it is always a good idea to speak with your optometrist and get a professional opinion. While most people are able to have the procedure there are a select few in which the surgery will not correct their vision.

It is also a good idea to ask them and see if they are able to recommend any surgeons to perform the surgery. Do a little bit of background research on surgeons in your area and ask you friends to see if they know anybody that has had the procedure performed. Doing a little bit of research before hand can potentially save you a lot of trouble and hassle during and after the operation.
